All good things come to an end – we love you Poreč!
It’s at moments like this where our emotions are up and down like a big dipper, like the emotions of Doppler/Horst – happy with a silver but gutted it wasn’t gold.
Yes, it is – using all the sad emojis possible - that we bid a fond fair well for the second year running to the stunning town of Poreč.
Weeks in beach volleyball flash by in the blink of an eye and it’s hard to think we set up shop on the shores of the Adriatic last week.
Since then 144 games have been and gone and new champions have been crowned and our congratulations go to underdogs Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur of Germany medal regulars Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt.
For us though, the ever-lasting memory will be witnessing over 5,000 fans packing into Center Court on finals day and the amazing sight of hundreds more sitting outside – unable to find a seat inside the stadium – watching the drama unfold on the giant screens in the trade village.
There have been tears of joy on and off court – we’ve even had players sobbing and saying that they don’t want to leave this beach volleyball paradise.
Fear not, though, beach volleyball fans – you only have to wait until Tuesday for your next fix of the beautiful game…because we’re heading to the mountains for the next instalment of the Gstaad Major.
So thank you for having us again Poreč. It’s been emotional!
See you again @ the beach!
