After a week of upsets, who knows what will happen on Sunday
Hello beach volleyball fans! Sunday might be the last day of the Poreč Major but there’s no need to feel sad because we’ve got four fantastic matches to make your heart race!
We’re down to the final four in the men’s competition as the world’s best teams face off for medals on our final day beside the sea in beautiful Croatia.
And boy have we got two semifinals you won’t want to miss!
First up on Center Court at 11:00 CET is the one the Austrians fans have been waiting for: Doppler/Horst have finally reached a Swatch Major Series semifinal. Standing in their way of a place in the final are Canadians Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk.
The two teams will meet for the eighth time with Doppler/Horst aiming for a third straight win. The Austrians have the upper hand in the past meetings, winning four of the seven matches.
The second semifinal has all the makings of a classic, too. The sole representatives left from Brazil, world champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt, tackle the European challenge of recent Olsztyn Grand Slam winners from Latvia Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins.
Alison/Bruno hold sway 4-3 in their previous meetings, but vitally Samoilovs/Smedins triumphed in the gold medal match in that Grand Slam win in Poland. And who can forget the final of last summer’s Gstaad Major that saw the boys from Brazil come out on top.
So put a stop to all those Sunday chores you have in store and either get down to Center Court or put your feet up in front of our live stream and follow all the action live as it unfolds from Istria.
The final match of an epic week kicks off at 16:00 CET – the question is…who will be in it?
Stay tuned to find out!
