Our guide to the must-see matches at Poreč Major today
The Poreč Major gets into full swing today and we’ve got 40 fantastic matches spread across five golden courts to get pumped about.
But with so many world class players in action we’ve got our top five tips of matches to catch either courtside or on our incredible live streaming service (our IT guys told us to say that).
So mark these matches down in your plan for today…
Match: Larissa/Talita v Radanovic/Fabris
Where: Court 6
When: 13:00 CET
Why? We’ve been shouting from the rooftops about the talents of Samanta Fabris for the past week now and today the Croatian indoor star makes her Swatch Major Series debut with partner Sara Radanovic. Their first game? Only the world champions and reigning Poreč Major gold medalists Larissa and Talita… The Croatians then head to Center Court at 18:00 CET to take on Canada’s Broder/Valjas, who finished fourth last year. Good luck, girls!
Match: Heidrich/Zumkehr v Betschart/Hüberli
Where: Court 2
When: 11:00 CET
Why? Ahead of next week’s Gstaad Major, what better than an early battle of two top Swiss teams? Heidrich/Zumkehr have already booked their place at the Olympics but can they overcome their fellow countrywomen in one of the day’s opening matches?
Match: Ludwig/Walkenhorst v Humana-Paredes/Pischke
Where: Center Court
When: 19:00 CET
Why? Because it’s the last match of the day on Center Court…and because German superstars and smart Major Hamburg gold medal winners Ludwig/Walkenhorst take on up-and-coming Canadians Humana-Paredes/Pischke.
Match: Guto/Saymon v Eglseer/Schnetzer
Where: Court 3
When: 16:00 CET
Why? The men’s qualification phase comes to an end today and Brazilian young guns, top seeds and Cincinnati Open winners Guto/Saymon eye a place in the Main Draw but face a challenge from Austrians Eglseer/Schnetzer.
Match: Elize Maia/Duda v Schwaiger/Hansel
Where: Center Court
When: 17:00 CET
Why? All eyes will be on 17-year-old sensation Duda as her and partner Elize Maia aim to build on their fourth place finish at the Olsztyn Grand Slam last week. In their way they face Austrians Schwaiger/Hansel, who next week will fight for their Olympic place in Sochi.
