No place on the podium for popular Dutch duo
A leg injury sustained to Alexander Brouwer has meant he and partner Robert Meeuwsen have pulled out of the Poreč Major before the quarterfinal stage.
The pair were due to take on Russians Stoyanovskiy/Yarzutkin in a round of 16 clash on side court 2 but, with a busy summer schedule on the horizon, the Dutchmen took the decision not to risk aggravating the small injury further.
Meanwhile, reigning champions Alison/Bruno made it through to today’s quarterfinals with a straight sets win over Spaniards Herrera/Gavira. After winning the first set 21-17, the Brazilians found it tough to shrug off their European opponents but eventually triumphed in a thrilling second set 34-32.
The Olympic champions will now take on Americans Theo Brunner and Casey Patterson for a place in Sunday’s semifinal.
