Calm after the storm for Laura and Maggie
After their shock opening match defeat against Biecneck/Schneider, Olympian champion Laura Ludwig and her new, temporary, partner Maggie Kozuch bounced back to winning ways at the Poreč Major on Wednesday.
Their match against local heroes Becic/Radanovic was due to be played on the Red Bull Beach Arena but due to a storm, the game was moved the side court three.
And Ludwig/Kozuch ensured there were no more surprises on the first day of the pool play by emphatically beating their Croatian opponents Becic/Radanovic in straight sets 21-6, 21-11 in just 30 minutes.
Meanwhile last year’s winners Laboureur/Sude also recovered an opening pool play defeat to win their second match of the tournament. The Germans also took half-an-hour to dispatch Finland’s Ahtianinen/Sinsisalo 21-13, 21-12.
The first day of the main draw was much easier for 2015 Poreč Major champions Larissa/Talita, however, who won both of their matches in Pool A.
Americans Claes/Hughes also registered two victories as did Czech girls and stars of our Divine Set photoshoot Slukova/Hermannová. It was even sweeter for Marketa who was celebrating her 29th birthday.
A storm-hit afternoon and evening session pushed the schedule back – keep an eye on our social media channels for further information.
