Decoding beach volleyball hand signals

What does this mean?!

It didn't make any sense anymore. We had to do it. For years Croatian fans have wondered what the signs that volleyball players point behind their backs to their teammates means.

Now we have the answers.

They act intriguingly, but safe. Mysteriously? That too. But how much do you know about them? Nothing? Good. Keep reading and you'll find out...

Now it is allowed for players to point out the next moves to their teammates, and it is done so behind their backs, hiding tactics from their opponents. A squeezed fist, a stretched finger, or two...here's five signs and our interpretation of them.

Stretched middle and index finger:
The blocker on the net closes the diagonal.
Stretched middle and index finger of the left arm and stretched index finger of the right arm:
The blocker on the net will try to close diagonal for the left opposite player and parallel for right opposite player.
Index fingers of both hands are directed to the ground:
The blocker will close parallel for both opposite players.
Squeezed fists
Sign to the teammate on the service that he/she is not blocking the side of the court where the blocker is.
Open fists
An open fists usually means the blocker is going to take the ball, basically he is guessing where the hitter is going to hit at the last second.

Is everything clear now? J Great! Then it's time to pack things up and come to Poreč because Poreč Major runs from June 27 to July 2 and there is no better way to apply this newly knowledge from this. ;)
